We are now accepting proposals for Art and Animation projects!

Folk On The Rocks is now accepting proposals for Art and Animation projects! We want to collaborate with creative members of our community to bring unique and memorable moments to the festival site. The deadline to apply is May 31, 2025.

We will notify successful applicants by June 9, 2025. 

We’re looking for art and animations for the festival that might be:

-Interactive

-Visually stunning both day and night

-Sturdy and weather-resistant

-Performative

-Weird and wonderful

-Humorous and engaging

-Hand-crafted with love

We encourage artists to create projects that are fun and engaging. Some areas of the festival site have electricity, and some do not, so please keep that in mind while designing your project.

Things we would love to see include (but are not limited to):

-Art that invites crowd participation (crafts, interactive installations, workshops)

-Installations that are safe and accessible to all ages

-Weather-friendly creations that can withstand the elements

-Art that is beautiful, funny, curious, silly, joyful, thought-provoking, or daring

-Games and interactive experiences

-Trippy, colourful, and eye-catching installations

-Fun photo opportunities

-Folk On The Rocks-themed artwork

-Anything you can dream up that fits the festival spirit!

Compensation & Perks:

-Artists will receive Artist Passes to Folk On The Rocks 2025.

-Artists may have site access on Thursday, July 17, to set up their installation (access will be scheduled and monitored).

-Artists will be featured in the festival promotions

-Artists will be mentioned on our stages at festival each day. 

- Material costs may be covered if an itemized budget with researched prices is submitted.

- If our budget allows, small honorarium may be provided.


Installation & Removal:

All installations must be fully set up before gates open at noon on Saturday, July 19, 2025. Any temporary installations must be removed by 8 PM on Monday, July 21, 2025. FOTR cannot provide volunteers or staff to support the installation or removal. 

Additional Notes:

Artists/Animators may not sell anything goods or services as a part of their installation. If you wish to sell crafts, artwork or other goods and services please apply to be a vendor. 

Budget Considerations:

We have a limited budget and will be distributing funds among selected applicants. Be realistic with cost estimates—unfortunately, we cannot fund many projects exceeding $150 - $250 total. Folk On The Rocks will reimburse expenses via submitted receipts.
