Join us in an online performance event featuring beloved Canadian musician, Fred Penner.
Opening for Fred Penner is Northern Canadian duo: P I Q S I Q.
Whether Fred Penner was the soundtrack to your 90s road trip through the Rockies, or you're introducing him now to your kids, Fred Penner's classics are full of nostalgia and heart. Born in Winnipeg, MB, Penner quickly gained notoriety through his 80s and 90s CBC TV series "Fred Penner's Place". After children's hits like "The Cat Came Back" and "Sandwiches", Penner was cemented as a childhood icon for an entire generation.
Opening for Fred Penner is the sister duo PIQSIQ. Born and raised across Nunavut and the Northwest Territories, Tiffany Kuliktana Ayalik and Kayley Inuksuk Mackay have come together to create a modern sound, rooted in Inuit style throat singing, and tradition. Their music celebrates and explores their Inuit culture, and the land they come from. In its short history, PIQSIQ has performed on stages across North America and Europe.
Fred Penner and PIQSIQ were set to perform at Folk On The Rock's 40th anniversary festival this July, in Yellowknife, NT, prior to the COVID-19 outbreak. While we wish we could be welcoming these talented musicians into our community, we are overjoyed that we can celebrate them with you now.
Tickets are available via Side Door, where ticket holders will be given a zoom link prior to the performance.
For the best viewing, we suggesting streaming from your TV.
FOTR would like to remind you that although this is an online show this still a safe space and we will be enforcing the same set of safety policies that we do on the festival grounds. If you need to review these policies they are listed under the FAQ section, or feel free to speak to an FOTR staffer.
