Empress NYIRINGANGO

Singing in her mother tongue Kinyarwanda, as well as Swahili, French, and English, Empress Nyiringango music influence combines her Rwandan roots and contemporary music. Empress Nyiringango is an award-winning and a self-taught musician based in Ottawa showcasing the self-coined Jablur sound, which blends jazz, blues and Rwandan. Her music features Rwanda’s oldest instrument, “Inanga” (Zither), and contemporary music sounds. Empress Nyiringango is a passionate singer-songwriter with a message of faith, hope, resilience, and healing. Her second album “ubuntu’’ has been nominated for the Canadian Folk Music Award 2024. She seeks to celebrate Canadian diversity and coexist respectfully in the healing journey of fellow immigrants who fled war, intolerance and all forms of violence. Having been a passionate of arts, culture and languages, her music showcases and celebrate her cultural heritage. Empress Nyiringango will be releasing a new single Wihogora (Don’t weep no more) in the Fall of 2025.
