The Trade-Offs are a Arctic soul-blues-rock band from Iqaluit, Nunavut. Features a gritty mix of electric guitar, Hammond organ, bass & drums with rich vocal harmonies. With a vintage sound inspired by the blues, jazz, funk and soul The Tradeoffs will get you on the dance floor where you get to groove to the cool original music and sway your hips to sweet ballads with that special someone. Add a few blues standards and you know that catching the show was worth the effort. The Tradeoffs have become a staple of the Northern music scene.

Joshua Qaumariaq is the powerful and bluesy voice that makes the core of the band’s sound. The guitarist, songwriter and bandleader can really belt it out and you’ll know it’s him as soon as you hear the voice. Josh writes sincere lyrics set to music that is emotionally rich and he sings with an authority and confidence that harnesses the power of blues, rock and soul music. He has been awarded with a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond medal for his contributions to music in the North and is often featured on CBC TV and radio as well as Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN). Jeff Maurice helps drive the deep and dusky sound of The Tradeoffs music with steady and smooth bass lines. As a collector of vintage musical instruments and recording equipment, Jeff was the lead producer/engineer on The Tradeoffs’ debut EP, “Red.”
